Should buyers be excited about buying homes in Auburn in 2012?
What does the 2012 real estate market look like?
 Based on the past performance of local real estate markets, 2012 is going to be an exciting year for buying and selling homes in Auburn and Lee County, Alabama. After years of steady growth and appreciating property values, Auburn homes and property values across the U.S. have dropped.
Despite these turbulent conditions in local and national realty markets, home sales are up, prices are down and the housing inventory is moving quickly.
Attractive prices for historic homes, suburban properties, condos and new constructions mean faster sales and a housing inventory that has dropped 7.5 percent. Today, and as we move further into 2012, there will be plenty of properties available so buyers can take advantage of competitive prices while enjoying a comprehensive selection of properties across the Auburn – Opelika AL area. Current statistics show there are more than 900 local properties with a median price of $149,000, which means many homes could be yours for less than $100k.
According to data from the Alabama Center of Real Estate (ACRE), an organization affiliated with the University of Alabama, the average sale price for homes in the Opelika-Auburn Area and Lee County dropped 15 percent during 2011, which means a three-bedroom house with top-notch amenities can be purchased today for $160,000 compared to the $177,000 a buyer would have paid for the same house a year earlier.

The pricing of new constructions homes in Auburn have seen a modest increase of 5.9 percent during the past year, which means 2012 will be a great time to purchase a new home or condo before the prices go up. One of the most exciting statistics is Auburn home sales have increased more than 24 percent over the past year. In fact, the ACRE reported that growth in the Auburn real estate market exceeded the state average where 64 percent of local markets experienced improved sales numbers.

The Holiday Season in the Auburn AL Community
 Samford Hall at Auburn University during the Winter Holidays on the Plains is a festive and delightful time of year in the Auburn AL community and Opelika AL community. Every year the Auburn Chamber of Commerce & Opelika Chamber of Commerce plan a variety of events one can enjoy getting our community in the “Christmas Spirit”. The parade will begin at the corner of Thach Avenue and College Street, turn left onto College Street, turn right onto Glenn Avenue, right onto Gay Street and right again on Thach. The parade will end where it began on the corner of Thach and College.

Teddy Bear Teas at Piccolo
Piccolo’s warm and cozy atmosphere will be the family-friendly destination this holiday season as it hosts the second annual Teddy Bear Teas on December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 2 p.m. in Piccolo. A real live Teddy Bear and Christmas Elf will provide entertainment and hugs. The price is $20 per person. Event Center Downtown Open House

Event Center Downtown will host a Christmas Open House during the Christmas in a Railroad Town featuring re-known artist Dr. Ronald McDowell. LCHS to Hold 15th Annual Campaign, No More Wasted Lives
Monday, December 13 • Kroger Dean Road Parking Lot
Jessica Marable, Lee County Humane Society (LCHS) Executive Director, will remain locked in a dog kennel, day and night, until the fund-raising goal of more than $24,000 is reached. No More Wasted Lives is the shelter’s largest fundraiser, and all proceeds from this campaign directly benefit the animals at the shelter. The shelter cares for more than 6,000 animals annually and hopes to raise $4 for every animal that came through the shelter’s doors over the past year. LCHS also provided services for 6,077 animals last year. The goal is to raise $24,308 in honor and memory of these animals. Visit Jessica and support the shelter by making a donation. Holiday cards will be available to send to loved ones acknowledging donations made as memorials or honorariums. Donations to the Lee County Humane Society are tax-deductible, and all donors will receive a letter acknowledging their gift. All proceeds from No More Wasted Lives will benefit adoption programs for Lee County Humane Society.

Auburn Realty Company announces 2010 ”On Track” Auburn Realtors
 Auburn Realtors Earn Honors in 2009 Several Auburn Realtors® at WEICHERT, REALTORS® – Porter Properties were congratulated as “On Track” for awards from the Weichert® franchise organization in Auburn AL. The announcement was made at the recent Weichert Southeast Regional Sales Rally that the Auburn Realty company’s Lindsey Lanier Stone is “On Track” for the President’s Club Award, the topmost annual Weichert Affiliate achievement award presented to agents across the country. Carole Harrison, Rick Coffin and Jeff Clary were named as candidates for the Executive Club Award, one of the top three honors presented each year. Keith Jones, Martha Shepherd, Cathy Fincher, Dennis Hanson and Blake Parker were identified as Sales Achievement Certificate winners at year’s end.
